Last week we spoke of the Mission and Vision that has been adapted by our church. This week we focus on the emerging “Core Values” of our church.
This “constellation” of values informs us as we live out our central commitment to Jesus Christ our Lord through our congregation.
First of all they are:
** Christ-Centered **
This means that they are all meant to be seen through the lens of Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
As we become more and more faithful to him as his followers, we seek to be more sacrificial, loving & graceful in everything we do, especially in our leadership style.
The following six core values are
placed in no specific order, but are mean to be hallmarks of our faith life together:
Joyfully Sharing Jesus Christ: Joyously sharing God’s story of Jesus Christ with enthusiasm, passion, love and hope.
Providing Engaging Worship: Engaging, innovative, vital worship that transforms through biblical preaching and truth.
Equipping Disciples through God-given gifts: Equipping and encouraging disciples of all ages to a deeper faith and confidence in Jesus Christ through Prayer, Spiritual Gifts and Spiritual Disciplines.
Accountable Small Groups: Connecting members and participants through accountable small groups.
Radical Hospitality: Offering welcome and acceptance, compassion, hospitality, respect and tolerance for all.
Involved Mission & Service:Reaching out and helping others through Mission and Service.
We have been led to life up these Core Values as a growing, dynamic set of positive preferences and attitudes that our leaders and members are expected to live out spontaneously in our daily living.
They are the initial boundaries within which we are free to express our God-given gifts and talents for the sake of the Body of Christ and the advancement of the Kingdom of God.
The challenge of these words are now to make them real. To put them into daily practice and have them guide us in the way they were meant to.
This week in worship we will be specifically looking at the first two:
Joyfully Sharing Jesus Christ & Providing Engaging Worship.
What does it mean in our society to let others know of our deepest values? How do we celebrate them when we come together?
Does the living of these values appeal to you? Why or why not?
How might you change them? Would you be willing to give them a try for a day? …a week? …a month?
How have you lived closer to God this
day? …this week?
How goes it with your soul?
Grace and Peace, Pastor Terry

and to let others see Christ transforming our lives”.
